My history, anyway...let me take you back.
September 24, 1993
It was a Friday and it was homecoming of my senior year in high school. It was cold and rainy and our yearly homecoming parade was canceled due to the rain. On top of that, I found out that my grandpa passed away. Clearly, that put a huge damper on the day. At the homecoming game, I was one of the cheerleaders holding up the big paper sign that the football players ran through. The biggest kid on the team ran right through a huge mud puddle and it was literally like I was standing on the curb when a bus drives through a puddle...splat right in my face and all over me. Ugh. And then there was the dance after the game. I went with this good guy friend of mine named Brandon. He thought I was standing him up because it took me so long to get there after the game (ahem - I was mud-covered & soaking wet). Needless to say, I didn't stand him up and he made me laugh through the whole dance, despite my really lousy day. When my sister and I were driving home from the dance, I remember telling her how much I really thought I liked that guy. Little did I know...20 years later. He's still making me laugh even when I think I don't want to. I sure wish I had a picture of us from that night. I do have one of myself wet & splattered, but you don't want to see that, right?
History lesson over.
